Top 5 Most Awaited Bollywood Movies of 2014 | Top 5 upcoming Bollywood movies 2014

2013 had been an eventful year for Bollywood. Not only it saw different genre of movies doing well simultaneously but also narrowed the margin between what the so called commercial and art movies. The first quarter of 2014 is about to end and it has not been so eventful till now. Salman Khan’s highly awaited movie Jai Ho bombed at box office and Bollywood is still looking for a super duper hit movie like Dhoom 3 to rescue it. Here are the list of Top 5 Most Awaited Bollywood Movies of 2014 that are riding high on hopes for different reasons.

Top 5 Most Awaited Bollywood Movies of 2014

 5. Ragini MMS 2 (Released)

This movie is releasing next week in March and has created nice vibes for itself, mostly because of Sunny Leone, the ex porn star, who plays a lead in the movie. A sequel of a fairly successful brand, part 2 is being promoted with a tag line ‘ Do me jyada maza hai’, which has a dubious meaning, which goes well with its genre. Balaji production have marketed the movie well and Honey Singh’s tadka in the movie has made it one of the most awaited movies of the year. Its commercial success is however expected to be limited because of its genre but this low budget movie can surprise many, just like Aashiqui 2 did it last year.

4. Mary Kom’s Biopic

Last year, it was Milkha Singh’s biopic, which surprised many critics and this year it seems that the Indian boxing legend is all set to repeat the success with this movie. Priyanka Chopara is playing the lead (Mary Kom) and the rumors are that she has worked really hard on the role. Though, we are yet to see a tailor or even a first look of the movie, success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has created a curiousity among the audience who are anxious to see if Priyanka is able to deliver the same way as Farhan Akhtar did in 2013. If she does, then rest be assured that the new genre of biopics, especially related to sports personalities will be in vogue! The movie surprisingly does not have a title as yet but let’s all hope that it creates history, just like the great Mary Kom did!

3. Bombay Velvet

Anurag Kashyap has plans to release the first part of his ambitious trilogy, Bombay Velvet by the end of this year. The movie has Ranbeer Kapoor and Anuskhka Sharma in lead and catches the life of Mumbai from early 50s to 70s and shows how the city got slowly evolved as a metro. Parallel goes the love saga of the leads and in between a lots of drama. With Kashyap’s gripping presentation and an impressive start cast, people are curious to know how the movie fetches at the box office.

2. Happy New Year

Farha Khan and SRK are coming together after quite some time. Farha has proved herself as a successful entertainer and with SRK back up, she is most likely to seal this belief this year. The movie got in cold storage for a couple of years but looks like it is now set up for release in 2014. SRK and Farha duo has always given great entertainers like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om and therefore, expectations are high from this movie as well. Farha Khans’s last movie Teesmarkhan bombed miserably at the box office and it did not had her favorite SRK in it but this time around the duo is back! Hope they deliver!

1. PK

Without a doubt, PK is the most anticipated movie of 2014. An Aamir Khan movie is not likely to disappoint you at any time and when he combines with the super talented director Rajakumar Hirani, rest be assured that something phenomenal is going to happen! PK is going to be a political satire and is most likely to get a release by the end of this year. It has been quite some time since we have seen Hirani direct a film. His Munna Bhai series would probably face a delay because of its lead Sanjay Dutt having legal issues and so PK comes as a big relief to his fans who would love to see more of his directed movies.

So here is the list of Top five most awaited Bollywood movies shortlisted for 2014. Till now we have had only semi hit movies like Gunday and Yaariyan and are still awaiting a blockbuster.  Queen has been the most surprising movie of the quarter which too didn’t get great commercial success but has been liked by critics and audience alike. Like 2013, expect a few surprises this year around as well and who knows, we might just see some low budget unknown movie coming out from nowhere and taking away all the limelight. This is Bollywood for you!
